How I Came to Pick Sugamo

This is a story from one autumn when I was 36. Around then, work had me making trips to the Itabashi/Kita-ku area more often. Sugamo is a low-key station on the Yamanote Line, but it's also a transfer point for the Toei Mita Line, which makes it surprisingly handy.

One night, on the way home from drinking in Sugamo, I spotted the sign for Hanatsubaki. It's a health shop covering the Sugamo/Komagome/Hakusan area, with hours from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. There's no late-night service, but opening from early morning is rare for this area.
