The pitch: a matchmaker with a price list
ESPERANZA (エスペランサ, Spanish for "hope") calls itself a members-style, top-end delivery health service. Cityheaven files it under Ginza. Its own site at esperanza-t.jp says it's based in Roppongi and Nishi-Azabu. Both make sense once you look at the transport chart: the only free ward is Minato. Reception runs 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. every day of the year. The number is 03-6277-7948.
The copy is pure Ginza: hostesses from top clubs, international flight attendants, executive secretaries, receptionists at listed companies, all mostly 23 to around 30. I can't verify a single job title from a hotel room, and the shop half-admits it doesn't matter: "what we truly value isn't the title." The more interesting claim is how they say they book. The founders supposedly came out of dating-app matchmaking, and the house rule is to tell the staff your type so they can send someone who fits. They pitch it as a cure for the classic upscale-delivery letdown: paying top yen for someone you'd never have picked.
The headline, taken apart
Here's the event running today, word for word in spirit: new guests get up to ¥17,000 off, plus another ¥5,000 off for booking through Cityheaven's web reservation or the official LINE (@104vphno). Stack them and you get "up to ¥22,000."
The trick is in what the "before" price includes. The official menu, which is also what members pay, lists DIAMOND 90 minutes at ¥70,000. The new-guest event lists the same course at ¥77,000. That extra ¥7,000 is the ¥2,000 photo nomination plus the ¥5,000 maximum transport fee, folded into the sticker. So the ¥17,000 is really three things:
- nomination fee waived (¥2,000)
- transport waived, up to ¥5,000
- an actual course cut of ¥10,000
The transport waiver is only worth ¥5,000 if you're in the ¥5,000 zone: Itabashi, Kita, Nerima, Arakawa, Adachi or Katsushika. I was in Shimbashi, which is Minato-ku, so transport was free anyway. My real bill, side by side:
| DIAMOND, 90 min, Minato hotel | Member price | First-timer, LINE booking |
|---|---|---|
| Course | ¥70,000 | ¥55,000 |
| Photo nomination | ¥2,000 | ¥0 |
| Transport | ¥0 | ¥0 |
| Total | ¥72,000 | ¥55,000 |
That's ¥17,000 saved, not ¥22,000. Skip the nomination and let the staff choose, and it's ¥15,000. Still the best discount I've seen at this price level. Just know which number is yours.
One tip on geography: if you take the "Ginza" label literally and book a hotel in Ginza proper, you're in Chuo-ku, the ¥2,000 zone. Walk ten minutes south to a Shimbashi hotel and you're back in Minato. First-timers get the fee waived either way, but when you come back as a member, that walk saves you ¥2,000 every time.
The tiers, briefly
There are four: Gran (60 min ¥40,000, 90 ¥60,000, 120 ¥80,000), DIAMOND (¥50,000 / ¥70,000 / ¥90,000), MARVELOUS (¥80,000 / ¥110,000 / ¥140,000), and ESPERANZA (90 min from ¥130,000). With both first-timer discounts, 90 minutes comes to ¥45,000 for Gran, ¥55,000 for DIAMOND, ¥95,000 for MARVELOUS and ¥115,000 and up for ESPERANZA.
Two catches. The ¥17,000 new-guest discount only applies at 90 minutes or longer. At 60 minutes, a first-timer just gets the nomination and transport waived. And the 30-minute extensions are steep: ¥26,000 on Gran and ¥30,000 on DIAMOND, against a ¥20,000 step from 90 to 120. Pick your length on the phone, not in the room.
One more thing for anyone reading carefully: the event page lists the member price for MARVELOUS 150 minutes as "¥170,000 → ¥90,000." Every other line in that table drops by ¥5,000, so that's almost certainly a typo for ¥165,000. Don't call quoting it.
The call
The shop's FAQ suggests the course length: 60 minutes if you just want the play, 90 if you want conversation too, 120 and up for "two rounds or more." I booked DIAMOND, 90 minutes over LINE, then the staff called me to confirm, and that's where the matchmaking pitch showed up. Instead of pushing whoever was free, the voice on the line asked what I actually like: age range, calm or bubbly, how much talking I want. I said someone in her mid-twenties, quiet, good at conversation, no theatrics. They gave me two names off that night's schedule, each with a one-line reason. I took the second.
When she knocked, the description held up. She was composed, quietly funny, and in no hurry. The first twenty minutes were conversation, about Tokyo, about why a New Yorker picks Shimbashi over Ginza for a hotel (the answer is the ¥2,000), and she steered it without making me feel steered. That's exactly what the 90-minute tier is sold on. The rest of the time was unhurried, and she kept an eye on the clock for both of us so it never turned into a countdown.
The rules that cost money
- Cancellation is 100% of the booked fee as soon as the reservation is confirmed. No grace window, no sliding scale.
- Cards accepted (VISA, Mastercard, JCB, Amex, Diners). Say so when you book. The menu doesn't list a card surcharge.
- No swapping contact info, no photos or recording, one guest per room, nobody drunk. Break a rule and she leaves with no refund.
- Options are ¥5,000 each (stockings, T-back, and toys among them). The repeat-request fee (本指名) is ¥5,000, so your second visit with the same woman costs more than your first.
Verdict
ESPERANZA's headline is accurate and a bit theatrical, like everything else about the brand. The real value for a first-timer is the ¥10,000 course cut on 90 minutes and up, plus the free nomination. Run the math for your own hotel's ward, book over LINE for the extra ¥5,000, and spend your effort on the phone call. Describe your type properly. That's the part of this shop that actually delivered.
